Replacement and fitting
Is mobile battery replacement different from going to a shop?
The battery and the work are the same; the difference is that the job comes to the car. A technician tests the old battery, fits the new one and checks the charging system where the car is parked, so a car that will not start does not have to be towed anywhere.
Is fitting included when I buy a battery?
Yes, fitting is included, along with delivery and the test. That covers removing the old battery, cleaning the terminals, securing the new one and registering it with a scan tool on cars that need it.
Do you test the battery before replacing it?
Yes, every visit starts with a free battery and charging-system test. If the battery is only discharged and still healthy, a jump start is the right fix and no battery is sold.
Do you take the old battery away?
Yes, the old battery is taken away for recycling. Lead-acid batteries contain lead and acid that must not go into general waste, and nearly all of the material can be recovered.
Will I lose my radio stations and settings when the battery is changed?
Usually not, because a memory saver keeps the car powered while the batteries are swapped. On some cars the clock, one-touch windows or steering angle sensor still need a quick reset, which the technician does before leaving.
How long does a car battery change take?
Most cars take 15 to 30 minutes once the technician is at the car. Batteries in the boot, under a seat or behind trim, and cars that need registration, take a little longer.
Jump start and breakdowns
Should I jump start the car or replace the battery?
Jump start it if this is the first time and there is an obvious cause, such as lights left on or a long trip away. A battery that needs a second jump start within a few weeks is usually finished and should be tested and replaced.
Why does my car click but not start?
Rapid clicking almost always means the battery is too weak to turn the starter. A single loud click with bright dashboard lights points to the starter motor instead, and a test at the car tells the two apart in a couple of minutes.
How do I tell a battery fault from an alternator or starter fault?
Look at when the problem happens. A battery fault shows as slow cranking or clicking after the car has been parked. An alternator fault shows as a battery light with the engine running or the car dying on the move, and a starter fault gives one heavy click with full lights.
Is it safe to jump start a modern car full of electronics?
Yes, when it is done with a proper jump pack and the clamps go on in the right order. The risk comes from reversed clamps or a voltage spike, which is why the technician connects to the car's marked jump points and tests the system afterwards.
How long should I drive after a jump start?
Drive for at least 30 minutes without switching the engine off, ideally on an open road and not in stop-go traffic. Idling in the car park with the AC on puts very little back into the battery.
What should I do if the car dies while I am driving?
Steer to a safe place, switch on the hazard lights and call for roadside help. A car that dies on the move usually has a charging fault and not just a weak battery, so the alternator needs testing before the car is driven far again.
Battery types and start-stop
What is the difference between AGM, EFB and a standard battery?
A standard flooded battery has liquid acid and suits cars without start-stop. EFB is a reinforced flooded battery with about twice the cycle life, and AGM holds the acid in glass mats, is sealed and copes best with deep cycling. Start-stop cars are built with EFB or AGM.
Can I fit a standard battery in a start-stop car?
No. A standard battery in a start-stop car fails early and the start-stop function switches itself off. An AGM car must get AGM back, and an EFB car takes EFB or an upgrade to AGM.
Does every start-stop car need battery coding?
No, not every one. Cars with a battery sensor, such as BMW, Mercedes, Audi, VW, Land Rover, Volvo and newer Ford models, need the new battery registered, while some Japanese and Korean start-stop cars relearn on their own. The technician checks and does it on site where it is required.
What do Ah and CCA mean on a battery label?
Ah, or ampere-hours, is the battery's capacity: how much energy it stores. CCA, or cold cranking amps, is how much current it can deliver in a short burst to turn the engine. The replacement should match or slightly exceed both figures on the original.
Which battery is best for UAE weather?
The best battery for UAE weather is a fresh, sealed one of the technology your car was built with. AGM stands up to heat and heavy use best, and for cars without start-stop a maintenance-free flooded battery from a known brand does the job well. Brand matters less than the right type and a recent manufacture date.
Does a hybrid or electric car have a 12V battery?
Yes, almost all of them do. The 12V battery powers the computers, locks and lights and wakes up the high-voltage system, so when it goes flat the car will not switch on even with a full traction battery. It is tested and replaced in much the same way as on any other car.
Warranty and payment
How long is the warranty on a new battery?
It is up to 24 months, depending on the brand and battery type. The exact term is confirmed with your quote and written on the invoice.
What does the battery warranty cover?
It covers manufacturing defects and a battery that fails to hold charge, confirmed by a test. Damage, deep discharge from lights left on, a faulty alternator and the wrong battery for the car are not covered.
How do I make a warranty claim?
Send a WhatsApp message or call at any hour. A technician comes to the car, tests the battery and the charging system, and replaces the battery on the spot if it has failed under warranty. Keep your invoice and the test printout.
How much does a car battery replacement cost?
It depends on the car, so there is no single figure. The technology (flooded, EFB or AGM), the capacity and size, the brand and the warranty length decide it. Send the make, model and year on WhatsApp and the exact quote is confirmed before the technician is dispatched.
Can I pay by card, Tabby or Tamara?
Yes. Payment is accepted in cash, by card, or split into instalments through Tabby or Tamara. Say which you prefer when you confirm the quote.
Do I pay for a battery if the test shows mine is fine?
No. The battery and charging-system test is free, and if your battery is healthy you are told so and no battery is sold. Any other work, such as a jump start, is quoted before the technician sets off.
Service area and timing
How fast can you reach me in Al Taawun?
Arrival inside Al Taawun is normally 20 to 35 minutes from your call. Rush-hour traffic at Al Taawun roundabout and on Al Ittihad Road can stretch that, and you are given a realistic time before the technician leaves.
How fast do you come at night?
Night calls are often the quickest, because the roads are clear. The service runs 24/7, including Fridays and public holidays, and inside Al Taawun the usual 20 to 35 minutes applies.
Can you come into a tower basement?
Yes. The technician comes down to your bay with a tester, a jump pack and the new battery, and walks in if the building does not allow visitor vehicles. Tell security a technician is expected and send the tower name, level and bay number.
Do you cover Al Nahda and Al Qusais on the Dubai side?
Yes, both are covered, along with Al Mamzar. They are a short drive across the border from Al Taawun, and the arrival time depends on traffic on Al Ittihad Road.
Which areas of Sharjah do you serve?
The mobile battery service covers Al Taawun and the areas around it: Al Khan, Al Majaz, Al Qasba, Buhaira Corniche, Al Nahda, Al Wahda, Abu Shagara, Al Qasimia, Rolla, the Industrial Area and Muwaileh. Each area has its own drive time, which you are told when you call.
Can you come to my office, a hotel or a mall car park?
Yes. The technician goes to wherever the car is: an office car park, a hotel near Expo Centre Sharjah, a mall car park or the roadside. Share a location pin on WhatsApp and say which level or zone the car is in.
Battery life and care
How long does a car battery last in the UAE?
In private use a car battery in the UAE typically lasts about 2 to 3 years. Heat is the reason: the same battery can last 4 to 5 years in a mild climate, and short trips and long parking shorten its life further.
Do short trips drain the battery?
Yes. Each start takes a large burst of energy, and a few kilometres in traffic with the AC, lights and screen on does not put it back. A longer run once a week keeps the battery properly charged.
How long can a car sit parked before the battery goes flat?
A healthy battery in a modern car usually copes with two to three weeks, and an older battery with less. The alarm, the computers and any dashcam keep drawing a small current the whole time, and summer heat speeds up self-discharge.
Should I disconnect the battery before travelling?
For a trip of more than about three weeks it is worth doing on most older or simpler cars. On newer cars with a battery sensor and many control units, a maintenance charger is the better choice where there is a socket nearby, because disconnecting can upset settings. Ask before you go and we will advise for your model.
What are the signs that a battery is about to fail?
Slow cranking on the first start of the day is the earliest sign. Dim interior lights, a start-stop system that stops working, electrical glitches, a swollen case or a rotten-egg smell follow. Get it tested at the first sign, because batteries in this heat often fail with little warning.
Why do batteries fail more often in summer?
Heat speeds up the chemical reactions inside the battery, roughly doubling them for every 10 C rise. That corrodes the internal grids and evaporates water from the acid, so a battery weakened in July and August often gives up at the next heavy demand.
